When you hire Aertker Legal, you get one thing most large firms can't offer: a seasoned trial attorney who is personally invested in your case from the first consultation to the final resolution.

Stephen C. Aertker, Jr. has been fighting for individuals and businesses in Louisiana and Mississippi courtrooms since 2003. Whether he's prosecuting a personal injury claim, defending a business in complex litigation, navigating a contentious divorce, or guiding a family through a succession, his approach is the same — strategic, thorough, and built to win.

Credentials & Recognition

Stephen's academic record reflects the same standard of excellence he brings to every case. He graduated summa cum laude with Upper Division Honors Distinction from Louisiana State University in 1994, where he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, and the Golden Key National Honor Society, and was named LSU's Outstanding Student in Political Science.

He went on to earn his Juris Doctor cum laude from Tulane University School of Law in 1997, receiving an Honors Designation in Trial Advocacy and a Certificate in Maritime Law — a foundation that has shaped his litigation-first approach to every practice area.

Stephen holds an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest peer-review distinction available to an attorney, reflecting both pre-eminent legal ability and the highest professional ethics as evaluated by fellow attorneys and judges. In 2009, New Orleans Magazine recognized him as one of the Top Lawyers in the New Orleans metropolitan area in litigation.

Admitted to Practice

Stephen is licensed in Louisiana and Mississippi and admitted to practice before:

  • All Louisiana and Mississippi state courts

  • U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of Louisiana

  • U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Mississippi

  • U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit

He also represents clients in additional states through pro hac vice admission with local counsel.

Community & Coaching

Stephen's commitment to excellence extends beyond the courtroom. A lifelong soccer enthusiast, he currently serves as Director of Coaching for Covington FC and has been the varsity head coach for the Mandeville High School soccer program since 2023. He previously founded the FC Tammany Tigers 2002/2003 girls program — a nationally-ranked team that captured five USYS Louisiana State Cups, three USYS Mid-South Conference Championships, and competed in the USYS National League for three consecutive seasons.

He is a graduate of Leadership St. Tammany and previously served as President of the Board of Directors of the Children's Advocacy Center/Hope House, a nonprofit dedicated to abused children in St. Tammany and Washington Parishes. He has also coached high school students in trial advocacy for the Louisiana State Bar Association's Mock Trial Tournament.

Beyond the Office

Stephen and his wife Corrine are the proud parents of three children — Caroline, Claire, and Stephen III. The Aertker family calls Mandeville, Louisiana home.
